Colotube triodes vacuum tube amplifier 300 B monoblocs 10 watt


Imagine: You come home from a stressful day, sit down and start your colotube vacuum amplifier. Let the stress go and experience listening to music like being in a concert. The auditory spaciousness will take your breath away. Never again will you want to miss your colotube amp.

Colotube vacuum tube amplifiers are 300 B triodes monoblocs with a sinus power output of 10 watt. They are the result of many years of research and development. Both devices are built mirror-inverted – for the most sophisticated demands on design. Each amplifier is hand-wired and hand-assembled in our family business. Handmade in Switzerland - in its purest form.

Only components of the highest possible standards have been used, to optimize acoustic performance. Most obvious is the lasting 3 mm stainless chromium steel cabinet and its side panels made from Wenge hardwood. The Pole Terminals and the RCA sockets are made by WBT, a German specialist and are gold-plated – as everything in and on a colotube – of highest quality. The tube sockets are made of Teflon, absorbing the vibrations from the transformer as well as the acoustic waves from the speakers. The Inox volume control with 26 positions can be delivered with presious stones from Swiss jeweler Stefan Rüthy. Exclusivity and Design in the smallest detail.

All tubes are handmade daily at Emission Labs in Prague and built true to the original of the legendary Western 300B, but with the latest and highest quality material. Each tube is numbered and has its test certificate.

 

Pairs with similar test results are put together so that both the right and the left channel have similar conditions.

To bring amplification to its perfection, colotube uses one driver tube and one output tube. Handmade silver wire with a purity of 999.99 embedded in Teflon builds the signal path. The Munddorf condenser with a gold and silver dialektrikum is positioned between them, so that the auditory spaciousness and the richness of the music shall not be lost.

The output tube EML 300B is comparable to the WE 300B. Thanks to their great experience and today’s highest quality material, Emission Labs produces this unique 300B tube. Due to the new heating technique, we have the lowest possible distortion.

The driver tube EML 20A Mesh is a DHT triode with an amplification of 20. The much wider plate distance guarantees the lowest possible distortion. Due to the perfect interaction between the output tube 300B and the DHT triode driver tube 20A, odd - as well as even - distortions are nearly annihilated!  In this development lays the secret of the unique sound of a colotube amplifier. If you test it on the most sensitive speakers in the world such as the “Duo Omega” Horn speakers of Avantgarde acoustics with 107 db, you will be amazed. We promise!

Similar to a light bulb, vacuum tubes have a certain life cycle and have to be replaced after a period of time. We guarantee the product for 12 months after purchase or 2000 hours of usage. However, most of our vacuum tubes live much longer. When the tubes are new, the ampere meter will show 80 milliampere.

 

When it displays less than 60, it's about time to order new ones. In Switzerland, after you purchase our tubes, we will deliver and install them for you at no charge. For international orders, the vacuum tubes will be shipped to you in a secure appropriate parcel.

It is of great importance that all equipment paired with a colotube amp is fine-tuned and positioned perfectly in your home. We consider it as part of our outstanding service to assist you with both.

To facilitate your process of choosing from all the brands and models out there, we suggest two complete high end audio sets to you. Even here we stick to our philosophy: as little as possible or as much as needed. Or with other words: reduce to the max.

 

The two sets are differentiated by their speakers and cables only. We have tested both, Tannoy and Avantgarde Acoustic with a colotube vacuum tube amplifier and can assure you: it simply sounds like heaven.

The sound demands it! Only the best components have been used to produce the CD-S5. The amplifier section of the audio output stage works in Class A circuits. The symmetrical signals pass through four separate channels, so they have little opportunity to interfere with each other. Two mains transformers - one for the analogue part and one for the digital board - as well as the CD reader unit, provide tremendous power. The result is a clear sound which remains low in distortion even at full power.

Listening

Would you like to experience the unique and exclusive sound of a colotube vacuum tube amplifier? At our location in Lyss, Switzerland – half way between Biel and Bern – you may, by appointment, come and listen without cost or obligation. We do not offer an artificial 'sound' room but rather open up our living room for you to experience the sound in a realistic environment.

Replacement of the tubes

Within Switzerland, after you purchase our replacement tubes, we will deliver them personally to your home and install them for you at no extra charge. For international orders, the vacuum tubes will be shipped to you in a secure appropriate parcel.

 

Home service

At colotube we offer consultation before and after the sale. Within Switzerland we will deliver all products personally right to your home. We will assemble all the components and tune them to their best level and to each other. Finally, we will show you how to position and use the equipment ideally so that you can enjoy it for a lifetime. To experience a “concert feeling” in your home, it is vital to position every detail in the right order. But of course ... you already know that.

Our tube amplifiers will accompany you for a lifetime. Should there be a malfunction in spite of everything, we will pick up the amplifier, repair it, and return to your home in Switzerland. Your amplifiers are as costly to us as they are to you since we've built them with our own hands.

 

While your colotube product is under warranty, repair will be free of charge. Only after the 5-year warranty period, we will charge you for the time of repairs needed.

Once we have answered all your questions, you should come to Switzerland and listen to our amplifiers. colotube will gladly pick you up at Zurich, Geneva or Bern airports personally! We will also offer you a free stay in our 50m2 suite with jacuzzi and separate toilet.

 

You will experience colotubes exclusive Service an all levels. If you decide to purchase our 300B amplifier, we will gladly reimburse your flight costs up to CHF 700.

After the sale, we will safely ship the amplifiers to your address. Anywhere in the world. Profit from our special FedEx fares.

We believe in our products. However, should you ever have a problem, you can ship the amplifiers back to us, and we will repair or replace it.

Warranty

A colotube is an amplifier for life. We therefore grant you a 5-year warranty (excluding the vacuum tubes). Should there be a malfunction in spite of everything, we will pick up the amplifier, repair it, and return to your home in Switzerland at no extra cost. For, we are convinced that our amplifiers are of highest quality.

 

For the vacuum tubes, we grant you a 1-year or 2000 hours warranty - which ever comes first. The warranty begins on the date of sale and during that time we will replace them for you at no extra cost.

The warranty does not include negligence, accident, or unreasonable use.

Manufactory

Our Manufactory

 

Colotube amplifiers are hand assembled and hand wired by Gino Colombo personally in our small manufactory in Lyss, Switzerland. They are uniquely identified and numbered.

Manufacture comes from the Latin manu facere which means „to make by hand“. Generally, a manufactory produces by customer order only. That is why you might have to wait for your colotube vacuum tube amplifier, but that will make a colotube even more precious.

Manufacturing today means innovation without giving up handcraft tradition, excellent vocational training, and artisanship. By doing so, the meaning of manufacturing in a globalised world becomes clear: clients seek and appreciate the inner value which is created in the manufacturing process.

Hifi-natic heaven has come one step closer

"There is a man who is as crazy about speakers and stuff as you are, and I have made an appointment for us to meet him," a friend said to me recently. "Gino Colombo is his name," she said as she handed me his business card. In preparation for our visit, I checked out his website www.colotube.ch. Ah, a tube lover! What, using the top quality 300B tubes of Emission Labs in Prague in a 10 watt monoblock system together with Tannoy Definition DC10T speakers! I could barely wait…

Wow, if the monoblocks sound as good as they look, this is really going to be something, I thought when we entered the listening room. Gino and his enthusiastic wife received us with warm Swiss hospitality. Why did Gino develop these monoblocks? It's a story of a quest for excellence. Since he could not find what he was looking for in an existing system, Gino studied electrical engineering and started to build his own amplifiers. What I was listening to, was the result of a ten year development process. Carefully he has selected and combined only components of the highest possible quality in an amplifier built by hand in his small family business. As we were making a listening tour through a whole range of music styles, one pleasurable impression after the other thrilled my hifi-natic heart.

What a broad and deep sound stage! Effortlessly vocal and instrumental soloists, choirs, bands and orchestras were portrayed in such a natural way that it made me think of good coffee. Yes, I am a coffeenatic too. Once you start drinking coffee (and I mean the real thing with freshly ground beans) without sugar, you really begin to taste the difference between good and excellent coffee. Not to mention the dreadful junk many people unwittingly punish themselves with. Well, I was listening to music without sugar – the pure stuff. Music as it should be.

What shall I say? The quality the Swiss are renowned for is exemplified in the system Gino has developed. You just might become as enchanted by it as I have.

Gino Colombo – Development and Sales

Gino holds a degree in computer engineering from the university of applied science in Bern and originally did an apprenticeship as electronic technician.

He unites tradition and innovation. Over many years, he developed his passion for vacuum tube amplifiers by developing various amps, testing, as well as investing more and more in research and development. Until finally, he “composed” the colotube 300B in 2011.

Gino builds every colotube with his own hands. He knows them and he loves them. His passion is unmatched.

Previously, he worked as the head of software development in different companies, and besides his work for colotube, Gino also teaches at a vocational school in Bern.

Pia Colombo – Marketing and Communications
Executive Master of Science in Communications Management.  Owner of Colombo Communications, a full-service provider for corporate communications and Celebrity Marketing. She speaks English, French and German and is responsible for Marketing & Communications as well as the head of Administration.

Up to 2006 she was a spokeswoman to the Swisscom Group and responsible for international media relations.  

Fabia Colombo - Production Assistant
Assisting in production and inventory. Before she begins her studies at the University of Berne, Fabia will spend a few months in Japan. 

 

Dario Colombo – Technology and Sales
Dario has successfully finished his apprenticeship as computer specialist. He plays the guitar in two bands called Hint and Liquid Rain - on a vacuum tube amp, of course. He loves high-quality Music and combines his passion for music and technology. He assists in the production of our amps and is learning how business works right from the start.

Sandro Colombo - Design
Owner of the agency "Goodmood" for visual communications, expo and events. He has an eye for aesthetics and makes sure that our product meets the highest requirements of design.

Graziella Rogers – brand ambassador
presenter and make-up artist, Graziella was Miss Earth Switzerland 2009. She is engaged to serve the underprivileged.
